From The Source
Sustainability runs deep at Dunn Paper. We talk a big game about our eco-friendly products, but do we practice what we preach? In a word: absolutely. From our pulp sources to the end of life of our products, we take special care to ensure that every step of our process is environmentally friendly.
Over the years there have been several common themes that as a material supplier are meaningful for development and product manufacturing. These are the basis for our sustainability programs and policies at Dunn Paper. We have created guiding principles that serve as the foundation for our company, not just our sustainability programs, and meet the changing needs of packaging and processing paper: Sourcing, Aligning, Functioning, and Protecting.
It is important to us that each of our products is rooted in being environmentally conscious, starting at the source. We create products that are better for the environment and for consumers, but how do we get there?
Raw materials at Dunn Paper are a key area of focus. Sourcing our products in a sustainable supply chain is of utmost importance; the fiber/pulp we source to make our specialty paper and tissue products are, in all cases, certified to meet global sustainability standards.
“All virgin fiber we purchase, no matter where in the world it is produced, is produced using sustainable forestry and is labeled as such.” Said Jim Monroe, director of purchasing at Dunn Paper, “We take great pride in our sustainability initiatives here at Dunn Paper and it shows in the care we give to our sourcing processes.”
Dunn’s certified pulp and secondary fiber are responsibly sourced through sustainable networks. All of those certifications come with strict protocols that are audited annually both internally and by an outside auditing firm to ensure that both we and our suppliers have the proper processes in place to adhere to those standards.
Not only are all pulps purchased by Dunn Paper are certified by one or several certifying agencies, our mills boast certifications as well. All our mills are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, and several of our mills are SFI (Sustainable Forest Initiative) and PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) certified.
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword we use, it’s a way of life. We’re “Making Tomorrow’s Paper Today” for a more sustainable future.
